Stateside is very honoured and proud to be the designer and supplier of the "Great Escape” buckle presented to all mine personnel involved in the rescue of Todd Russell and Brant Webb at Beaconsfield mine last year.
Todd first approached me in October 2006 to discuss the possibility of providing a buckle as their special way of thanking all the people involved in their rescue.
We discussed the wording requirements to accompany the reproduction of the famous picture of Todd and Brant coming out of the mine shaft cage after their heroic rescue at Beaconsfield. What a memorable moment to capture forever in pewter.
Our very talented graphic artist Matt Lynn was able to capture this picture and distinctive wording in what is now a very well known belt buckle design throughout Australia and the world.
Finally the special thankyou message to the rescuers was added to the back of the buckle and production was underway.
Timing was perfect. The buckles were delivered well in time for the events commemorating one year after the rescue.
Todd and Brant were extremely pleased with the finished result and those individuals receiving the buckle are more than happy to have this special thankyou token forever to remind them of their tremendous efforts.
The special commemorative event and the presentation of the buckles were covered on radio, TV, magazines and newspapers.
